Working as a designer for the Wells Fargo Community Mural Program has been a pivotal experience in my growth and evolution in the field. This program produced unique, custom-designed art pieces that captured the community’s history and honored its heritage.
The murals were intended as large-scale, permanent visual elements within the bank branches nationwide, each one reflecting the unique history of its neighborhood. During my time with the Mural Program, I transformed historical images into over 200 original artworks, some measuring up to 100 feet in length. This experience deepened my appreciation for how art can connect communities and foster a sense of belonging. It also taught me how challenging—sometimes even impossible—it can be to find historical images that truly represent the diversity within those communities.
